Etymology[edit]

From Latin fabricāre, present active infinitive of fabricō (which originally had to do with the forging of iron), and perhaps influenced by fier; another etymology links it to a Vulgar Latin root *ferricāre, from ferrum (compare Old French enfergier). Compare Aromanian fãric, fãricari.[1]
