Portuguese

Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese frauga, from a Vulgar Latin *frabica, a metathetic form of Latin fabrica (smithy, forge). Doublet of the borrowing fábrica and of forja, from French. Cognate with Spanish fragua.
