English[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Adjective[edit]

fuzzy-headed (comparative more fuzzy-headed, superlative most fuzzy-headed)

  1. Synonym of nappy: having tightly curled and frizzy hair.
    • 1885 Aug. 8, Spectator, p. 1043:
      They were... fuzzie-headed.
  2. (possibly offensive) Characterized by vague or confused thinking: foolish, dull-witted, drunk.
  3. Synonym of giddy: joyfully elated.

Usage notes[edit]

As an insult, although present use is generally understood as an allusion to having a head full of fuzz, the original racist supposed connection between fuzzy hair and intelligence can make this and similar terms offensive.
