Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish كسندی (kesindi, kesinti, “a cutting, clipping, cuttings, a shooting pain”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish كسنمك (kesinmek, “to cut out clothes for one's self”), from Ottoman Turkish كسمك (kesmek, “to cut”), from Proto-Turkic *kes- (“to cut, to reap”),[2] morphologically kes- + -in + -ti.
