Etymology[edit]

Attested from 1929 according to Svenska Akademiens ordbok. From Romani kira ("to do, to work"). One of many common slang terms and colloquialisms borrowed from the Romani population of Sweden. See for example tjej ("girl, young woman"), jycke ("dog; pooch"), lattjo ("amusing").
