Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish قوزی (quzı, “lamb”), from Proto-Turkic *kuŕï, *koŕï (“lamb”). Cognate with Old Uyghur qwzy (qozï), Kazakh қозы (qozy), Bashkir Ҡуҙы (Quðı), and Karakhanid قُزٖى (quzï̄).
