[edit]From Proto-Polynesian *makalili (compare with Tahitian maʻariri, Samoan maʻalili)[1] from to Proto-Oceanic *makaridriŋ affixing *ridriŋ from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *diŋin (compare with Tetum malirin, Malay dingin).[2][3]
