moving violation (plural moving violations)

  1. (law enforcement) Violation of the law by the driver of a vehicle while in motion.
    • 1959 May 20, Taking Violators Off the Road, St Petersburg Times, p. 8A:
      Under present law, the Department of Public Safety can suspend a license from 30 to 90 days when the holder accumulates three moving violations.
