Etymology[edit]
From ne- + pateicīgs (“grateful”), with pateicīgs from pateik(ties) (“to thank”) + -īgs, with k > c via palatalization (and with pateikties being originally the reflexive form of pateikt (“to say, to express”), from pa- + teikt (“to say”)).
