pixmap (plural pixmaps)

1. (computer graphics) A grid of pixels; a bitmap, especially one having more than one bit (binary digit) assigned to each pixel, allowing for multiple shades or colors.

   Synonyms: bitmap, pixelmap, raster

   • 2021, Alexander Thomasian, Storage Systems..., §2.13.7:

     PDF primarily encodes graphics and text as vectorized data, whereas DjVu primarily encodes them as pixmap images.
