Etymology[edit]

From re- +‎ florescence. Alternatively, directly from Latin reflorescens, present active participle of refloresco (I flower anew), from re- +‎ floresco (I flower).

reflorescence (countable and uncountable, plural reflorescences)

  1. (botany) A blossoming anew of a plant after it has apparently ceased blossoming for the season.
  2. (figurative) Resurgence; reflourishing; revival.
