[edit]From Middle High German rīch(e)lich, from Old High German rīhlīh, *rīhhilīh. By surface analysis, reich (“rich”) + -lich. In modern German it can also be reinterpreted as reichen (“to suffice”) + -lich, but this is unetymological. Cognate with Dutch rijkelijk.
