English[edit]

Verb[edit]

save down (third-person singular simple present saves down, present participle saving down, simple past and past participle saved down)

  1. (computing) To write a computer file to disk.

Usage notes[edit]

In computing sense, save and save down are both used, with save down being more informal. Compare other computing phrasal verbs such as close out and print out.
