[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish صولومق (solumak, “to breathe, breathe heavily, pant”), from Proto-Turkic *sōlï- (“to breathe heavily, to pant”).[1]
Cognate with Chagatai [script needed] (solumak, “to breathe”), Chuvash сывлама (syvlama, “to breathe”), Tatar суларга (sularga, “to breathe”), Yakut уолуй (uoluy, “to be lost, be very scared”).
