- (physics) A characteristic of a spring which is defined as the ratio of the force affecting the spring to the displacement caused by it.
Usage notes[edit]
Usually denoted with the letter "k" in formulae, as in the formula F = k·x, where "F" is the force applied and "x" is the displacement.
