  1. A boiler that is designed to produce and withstand the pressure of steam at 300psi (2070kPa) or less.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The term boiler is often a misnomer in modern usage, since they are frequently designed to heat water to below boiling point and could be dangerous if they actually produced steam.
