step over (plural step overs)

  1. (soccer) A dribbling move, or feint, in football (soccer), used to fool a defensive player into thinking the offensive player, in possession of the ball, is going to move in a direction he does not intend to move in.




step over (third-person singular simple present steps over, present participle stepping over, simple past and past participle stepped over)

  1. (intransitive, idiomatic) To relocate oneself to a position of a few steps away; step aside.
  2. (transitive, idiomatic) To carefully move making sure one doesn't step onto someone or something.
