Adverb
[edit]sízt
- since
- Völundarkviða, verse 31, lines 1-2
- Vaki ek ávallt · viljalauss,
sofna ek minnst · síz mína sonu dauða;- I am always awake / powerless,
I fall asleep the least / since the death of my sons.
- I am always awake / powerless,
- Völundarkviða, verse 31, lines 1-2
Usage notes
[edit]- As seen in the example above, sízt can be used with a noun Y and adjective X both in the accusative to mean “since the Y became X”. Thus síz mína sonu dauða is literally “since my sons dead”.
