Etymology

[edit]

Perhaps from zp (occasion, matter) +‎ n(j) (of) +‎ jwtt (the nonexistent), but other interpretations using the verb zpj (to be left) or noun zp (remainder, rest) have also been proposed. For n jwtt compare also n ntt (because).
