Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (ötä-, “to fulfill, execute; pay back”);[1] Kazakh өтеу (öteu), Kyrgyz өтө- (ötö-), Southern Altai ӧдӱ- (ödü-, “to pay”), Uzbek oʻtamoq, Turkish ödemek, Uyghur ئۆتىمەك (ötimek, “to fulfill, execute”).
