Etymology[edit]

From New Latin encyclopaedīa and its borrowings in European languages; ultimately from a false univerbated form of Ancient Greek ἐγκύκλιος (enkúklios, circular) + παιδείᾱ (paideíā, education, literally rearing of a child).
