Etymology

Inherited from Middle Hindi اونٿ (avnṭ /⁠ūṭ⁠⁠/) (c. 1609) / اوٿ (avṭ /⁠ūṭ⁠⁠/) (c. 1565), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀝𑁆𑀝 (uṭṭa), from Sanskrit उष्ट्र (úṣṭra, “camel”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *úštras.
