[edit]From the older form ܐܲܟܕ݂ܵܝܬܵܐ (akḏāytā), from Aramaic אַכְּדַיתָא (ʾakkḏāytā), from Akkadian 𒌵𒆠 (akkadītum, literally “Akkadian”); compare Turoyo ܓܕ݂ܰܝܬܐ (gḏayto).
