తిరగమాత (tiragamātan (plural తిరగమాతలు)

  1. a cooking technique where certain spices are roasted in oil or ghee to give them a stronger flavor, usually with cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chilli , curry leaves etc. Similar to tempering.
  2. Other telugu name : Popu
  3. Also called 'Tadka' as in dal tadka
