交(こう)霊(れい) • (kōrei)

Of the two spellings 降霊 and 交霊, the former implies more of a sense of summoning, and the latter more of a sense of exchange or communication.

交(こう)霊(れい)する • (kōrei suru) suru (stem 交(こう)霊(れい)し (kōrei shi), past 交(こう)霊(れい)した (kōrei shita))

to call, contact, or communicate with the spirits of the dead, to act as a medium
