Greek[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ἀνέρχομαι (anérkhomai). By surface analysis, αν- (an-, “up”) + έρχομαι (érchomai, “come”), with the prefix a variant of ανα- (ana-, “up”).
For sense amount: Semantic loan from French s’élever.[1]
