From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kʾhwk' /⁠kāhōk⁠/, lettuce),[1] perhaps whence borrowings Mazanderani کاهوک (kâhuk), کاوک (kâuk), کهوک (kahuk, lettuce), ultimately of unknown origin.
