I believe сказать is perfective for def. 2 only: to say. This comes from SlovoEd dictionary and a Russian linguist friend. A better reference would be good. Apparently Russians use поговорить for perfective 1) talk, speak. Rob625125 10:06, 8 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

That’s right, except that поговорить is not an exact perfective for this verb. Definition 1 does not allow for a perfective, because it is almost like a stative sense. Only definition 2 allows one. The perfective поговорить means "to have a talk" or "to talk for a while". There are other perfectives, too, such as заговорить, to begin to speak; приговорить, to condemn; договорить, to finish speaking; разговориться, to find plenty to talk about; переговорить, to talk down; and so on. The perfective сказать is the only one that actually corresponds to part of the meaning of говорить. —Stephen (Talk) 11:16, 8 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
