From Proto-Finnic *antadak, from Proto-Uralic *ëmta-. Cognates include Finnish antaa, Livonian andõ, Votic anta, Ingrian antaa, Livvi andua, Ludian and Veps antta; Northern Sami vuovdit (to sell) (from Proto-Samic *vuomtētēk), Erzya and Moksha андомс (andoms, to feed), Udmurt удыны (udyny, to give something to drink), Komi-Zyrian удны (udny, to give something to drink) and Hungarian ad (to give).
