Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *čōčka (pig), itself from from Proto-Turkic *čōč- (child; young pig) (whence Uzbek jujuq (small child)). Cognate with Tatar чучка (çuçka), Uyghur چوشقا (choshqa), Kyrgyz чочко (cocko), Khakas сосха (sosxa), Bashkir сусҡа (susqa, pig), etc.
