[edit]Borrowed from Occitan ferigoulo, farigoulo, from Old Occitan farigola, from Vulgar Latin *fericula < ferus. OR from Medieval Latin *ferricula < fer, influenced by auricula, lenticula, sanicula as well as ferraria.
