[edit]From Malay getah, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *gətəq (“sap, gummy secretion”), *-təq (“sap, gummy secretion”). Semantic loan from Dutch sap for the sense of biological fluid, biological juice.

- sap: the juice of plants of any kind, especially the ascending and descending juices or circulating fluid essential to nutrition.
