q-analog (plural q-analogs)

  1. (mathematics) A generalization of a theorem, identity or expression that involves a new parameter q that returns the original theorem, identity or expression in the limit as q → 1. They have applications in the study of fractals and the entropy of chaotic dynamical systems.
