Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اوكچه (ökçe), from Proto-Turkic *ökče (“heel”); cognate with Azerbaijani ökcə, Bashkir үксә (üksə), Kazakh өкше (ökşe), Kyrgyz өкчө (ökcö) and Turkmen ökje.
