Norwegian Nynorsk[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From øl +‎ bolle.

Noun[edit]

ølbolle m (definite singular ølbollen, indefinite plural ølbollar, definite plural ølbollane)

  1. a bowl (made of wood) used for beer (usually in collective drinking, e.g. during celebrations). Often decorated with different carved and painted decorations and inscriptions (e.g. runic inscriptions and rhymed jokes)

Usage notes[edit]

The bowl can be used for other alcohol beverages if necessary (as long as the alcohol content in the beverage is not doing damage to the painting).
