Etymology

Learnedly, from Koine Greek διακήρυ(ξις) < (-σις) (diakḗru(xis) < (-sis), sale by auction) + -ση (-si) > -ξη (-xi), from διακηρύσσω (diakērússō, proclaim) and semantic loan from French proclamation.[1]
