Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰺𐱃‬𐰸 (artuq‬‬, more, much); Kazakh артық (artyq, excessive), Uzbek ortiq (excessive), Turkish artık (excess, surplus), Khakas артых (artıx, excess, surplus; better), Tuvan артык (artık, excess, surplus; better), etc.
