Borrowed from Old Ruthenian доброво́льный (dobrovólʹnyj) in XVIII, from Old Polish dobrowolny. By surface analysis, до́брый (dóbryj) +‎ -о- (-o-) +‎ во́ля (vólja) +‎ -ный (-nyj).
