Inherited from Old Ruthenian поспѣхъ (pospěx), from Old East Slavic поспѣхъ (pospěxŭ), from Proto-Slavic *pospěxъ. Cognate with Belarusian по́спех (póspjex), Polish pośpiech, Old Church Slavonic поспѣхъ (pospěxŭ).
