Etymology

Probably borrowed or influenced by Russian придирчи́вый (pridirčívyj), ultimately a calque of Latin praetēnsus. Morphologically equivalent to приди́рям (pridírjam, to stretch out; to pretend) +‎ -чив (-čiv).
