The older form is ապասպարեմ (apasparem), borrowed from Iranian: compare Manichaean Parthian [Manichaean needed] (ʾbyspʾr- /⁠abespār-⁠/, to deliver up, hand over, entrust), Middle Persian ʾp̄spwltn' (abespurdan), present stem ʾp̄spʾl- (abespār-, to commit, entrust, consign), and see there for more.[1][2]
