Denominal verb of *բաժան (*bažan, sharing), borrowed from an unattested Middle Iranian cognate of Sanskrit भजन (bhajana, the act of sharing, distribution), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂g- (to divide, distribute, allot).
