Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ẹĺgin (trot, amble), a development of *ẹĺ- (to walk, to trot, to amble), whence اشمك (eşmek, to trot). Cognate with Karakhanid اَشْكِنْ (eşkin).
