Etymology[edit]
Literally “God knows best” or “God knows better”.
Phrase[edit]
اَللّٰهُ أَعْلَم • (allāhu ʔaʕlam)
Usage notes[edit]
Used when responding to a question to which one does not know the answer or thinks they may be wrong. Also used to express that a human can never claim to be all-knowing, which is an attribute only belonging to God.
