Merger of two near-synonymous verbs:

  • درفشیدن (derafšidan, to glitter; to tremble; to flutter, from Middle Persian [script needed] (dlfš /⁠drafš⁠/, banner; flag))
  • رخشیدن (raxšidan, to shine, from Sogdian [script needed] (rwxšn /⁠roxšan⁠/, bright)).
