Inherited from Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀤𑀲𑁆𑀲𑁂𑀤𑀺 (dassedi)), from Sanskrit दर्शयति (darśáyati, “to show”), from the root दृश् (dṛś).
