Etymology

Inherited from Chagatai قىرغاۋۇل (qirghawul), from Classical Mongolian ᠭᠣ᠊᠊ᠷᡍᠣ᠊ᠣ᠊ᠯ (ɣo--rᡍo-o-l), equivalent to Mongolian гургуул (gurguul). Cognates with Azerbaijani qırqovul, Kazakh қырғауыл (qyrğauyl), Tatar кыргавыл (qırgawıl), Uzbek qirgʻovul.
