مَيْسِر • (maysir) m
- (archaic because outlawed by Islam) a game of chance of drawing lots from arrows with typically seven participants for the shares in an allotted prize (usually a camel’s meat)
- 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 2:219:
- يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْخَمْرِ وَٱلْمَيْسِرِ ۖ قُلْ فِيهِمَا إِثْمٌ كَبِيرٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَإِثْمُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِن نَفْعِهِمَا ۗ
