Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *yokarū, from *yok (up, above; hill) +‎ *-ğaru (towards).[1][2] Cognates with Azerbaijani yuxarı, Bashkir юғары (yuğarı), Southern Altai јоор (ǰoor), Karakhanid یُقارُو (yuqaru), Turkish yukarı.
