Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀕𑀺𑀤𑁆𑀥 (giddha), from Sanskrit गृध्र (gṛ́dhra). Compare Gujarati ગીધ (gīdh), ગીધડું (gīdhḍũ), Marathi गिधाड (gidhāḍ).
